We Must be the Change

We are living in a time of heightened energy and turmoil. Tensions that have existed under the surface for hundreds of years are bubbling up into our consciousness, demanding to be noticed and changed. We can not escape the universal law of karma, or cause and effect. And we can not pretend the forces of darkness do not exist. In order for something to be transformed, it must first be brought to the surface (to the light) in order to be examined. Neither ignoring or denying problems, nor trying to suppress symptoms on the level of effect will solve anything. Real change must occur at the level of cause.

There is a reason for the great suffering in this world. We have not been respectful to our planet, or to one another, and this behavior will not allow us to continue our ways for much longer. The answers to our problems do not lie in geoengineering, GMO crops, vaccines, stricter immigration laws, bombing other countries, or killing one another. The change that is needed must occur in our consciousness. We must learn to act from a place of love, and not fear, in all that we do. We must start living in accordance with the laws of nature or Mother Earth will throw us off of her back. We must atone for our mistakes and our poor treatment of one another. Beginning anew can only happen after we acknowledge where we went wrong and atone for our mistakes. The reason Germany is so prosperous now is that shortly after World War II, they apologized to the Jewish people and gave reparations to Jewish organizations. America, however, has never apologized to its African American citizens for enslaving them, and so we have carried an underlying consciousness of racism in our country for the past 400 years. The violence that we are witnessing today is bringing this fact to our attention, giving us the opportunity to transcend this ongoing injustice now. All change begins on an individual level. Systems, cities, states, and countries are merely a collection of individuals. We must each decide for ourselves how we are going to live and how we are going to treat one another.

We are always being given the opportunity to awaken to what is really going on in the world, to question everything we have been taught, to seek out where the information we have been taught originated from, and to search for the truth. This process takes time and work, but in the end, it is the ONLY way to empower ourselves. All problems stem from the notion of separation- that we are alone or different from those around us or from the natural world. To effect change on the material plane, we must begin with changing our own thoughts and perceptions. Our behaviors will then change, which has a direct influence on those around us. A ripple effect will spread into our communities, and eventually across the world. Instead of being a complicit player in the ways we thought life had to be, we can be an instigator of change, transforming the world into what we desire it to be. We are all creators. We all have something to contribute and share. We all have the potential to transform hate into love and empowerment. But in order to do this, we must first get still, quiet, and non-reactive. We must learn to listen to ourselves and to each other, to practice the art of forgiveness, and to form community and not division. All of the answers to our problems can be found within our wholeness-  in the peaceful place that always resides within our center.

Here is what Marianne Williamson recently wrote on the subject:

“In A Course in Miracles it says there is a limit beyond which the son of God cannot miscreate. What this means is that when we are using our minds in a loveless, i.e. miscreative way, it will only be so long before the whole thing falls apart.

Modern civilization is in many ways predicated on miscreative thought, the realities of love and brotherhood and justice and mercy far too often pushed to the side by our blind obeisance to principles of greed and domination. In that sense, nature has needed to rebalance itself. It was an illusion to think things could continue as they were.

What we are experiencing now are signs of a reckoning, which of itself is neither good nor bad. If we place this period in a sacred context, enough of us rising to the occasion of co-creating miraculous possibilities wherever we are, then this will one day be looked back on as the time when humanity began to wake up. If, on the other hand, we allow ourselves to use contemporary dramas to simply bolster the ego, tempting enough of us to keep crouching within the self-created cages of our narrowness and fear, then this will one day be looked back upon as a time when humanity lost its mind.

If you’re wondering where the leaders are, then that’s a sign you are to rise up and be one. If you’re wondering what the Answer is, that’s a sign you are to answer Love’s call. If you’re wondering where the love is, that’s a sign you’re being called upon to look inside your heart.

The world is falling apart in many ways, because humanity has not cleaved to love. And in our modern arrogance, we thought we could get away with that. Alas we cannot, and the time has come when the moral order of the universe will re-assert self — with or without our cooperation. Denial and distraction can numb you to the revolution, but they can no longer protect you from the revolution. On the level of consciousness, it has already begun. There are only two choices for any individual: to join the revolution of love, or endure the revolution of fear.

Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, you’re imbued with a mission: to be the presence of the Alternative, the uplifter of energy, the worker of miracles, a conduit of love. No one but you can determine whether you will accept this mission. But the time has come. Nothing is more important now than that we commit more deeply, and support each other, in doing our best to go all the way… to join our forces in co-creating with God the massive wave of cosmic love that will dissolve our fear and purify our hearts, that tears shall be no more.

The light within is the light of a new horizon, if it’s the light we choose to follow now. The outer eye reveals all kinds of trouble, but the eye within reveals trouble’s end. As God said to Joshua, “Do not be terrified, do not lose hope, for I go with you wherever you go.”

Heaviness

Intense humidity has returned to the atmosphere around me, synchronistically timed with the tragic events occurring around the world. The air has become so thick with fog, as if saturated with tremendous grief, only allowing, at times, visibility of just a few feet. Ghandi said, “Speak only if it improves upon the silence.” I feel incapable of offering any words that improve upon those already said at this time. Instead, I am dwelling introspectively.
I would, however, like to share a passage written by yoga teacher, Jacqui Bonwell (who always speaks directly to your soul):

“I must remember that underneath my worry lives courage. Underneath my tough emotions lies great stability. Underneath my shame lives tremendous personal power. Underneath my greatest grief there is total acceptance. Underneath my repressed words there is truth. Underneath my delusion is great clarity. When I forget this my spirit waits patiently for me to get it together, and never gets tired of watching me sometimes take the scenic route. It always knows that I will remember, and yours knows you will too. Hardship is the soul’s blessing.”

I hope this may be of benefit to anyone feeling despair at this moment.
