“The ideal of the soul, the thing it asks for is neither knowledge nor light, nor happiness.
The ideal of the soul is space, immensity.
The one thing your soul needs is to be free, free to expand and reach out and to embrace the infinite.
Yes, the ideal of the soul is infinity.
It is miserable when it is circumscribed and restricted.
It is a fragment of the universal soul, which is infinite.”

Hi Wendy, I hope you are feeling better. I know it is not easy with the health problems. I have been reading about Lyme Disease. It is often misdiagnosed. It can cause symptoms similar to chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. You did so much long distance hiking.
Stay well,
Bill Gordon
Hi Wendy,
I am following a PCT journey called: Head For the Hills, Claudiamoon. Th writing and photos are wonderful with the true spirit of wilderness and a life close to nature. It is very uplifting as is your’s.
I hope you can overcome the difficulties and lead the life you cherish. You have all of the qualities for that quest.
Childhoods with no support can impair one’s ability to find freedom, but it can be overcome. I to have these problems composing music and trying to experience nature and tap into its power since we are its essence. I am 72 and am still committed to this end. My health is ok. Financial problems exist, but day by day life with nature and art and friendship are powerful forces to live and overcome fear and have hope. Following long distance hailing and kayaking help to restore the spirit of the quest.
